
Child safety programs get a boost in Penticton
PENTICTON – Bicycling and fire safety programs in Penticton will be getting a boost thanks to a provincial grant.
The Penticton Safety Village Society will put the $20,000 provincial Community Gaming Grant towards bicycle and fire safety programs for children, B.C. government caucus media spokesperson Dave Paulson says.
Non-profit organizations can apply for provincial gaming revenues from the Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development. This particular grant is awarded under the public safety category of the Community Gaming Grant program, which also awards grants in the Human and Social Services, Sports and Arts and Culture, Parent Advisory Council and District Parent Advisory Council and Environment categories.
More than 5,000 local non-profit organizations benefit from $135 million in gaming gratns annually throughout B.C.
