Flights for $89 now possible out of Kelowna

KELOWNA – A new airline has chosen Kelowna International Airport as one of only three hubs in Canada where you can fly domestically for under $100.

NewLeaf Travel will offer five flights a week departing from Kelowna for Winnipeg on Wednesday and Saturday, Regina on Sunday, Saskatoon on Monday and Friday and Hamilton on Sunday. They have partnered with Kelowna-based Flair Airlines to use their fleet of Boeing 737-400 jets.

The Manitoba-based company made the announcement Wednesday, Jan. 6. Introductory fares and schedules are posted on the NewLeaf website.

The company is able to charge less, in some cases as little as $89 taxes and fees included, by focusing on smaller airports, NewLeaf CEO Jim Young says in a press release.

Luxuries like snacks and drinks as well as carry-on and checked baggage will cost extra.

Flights will be available starting Feb. 12 but can be booked now.
