PENTICTON — Parts of Three Blind Mice Trail are no place for beginning mountain bikers.

Penticton Search and Rescue president Dale Jorgensen said there's 107 kilometres of trail and some are very technical.

"The trails are zig-zagging all over the place," he says.

Jorgensen pointed out there are easier trails elsewhere for starting riders to learn their mountain bike skills.

On Sunday, he and his crew responded to an injured rider on Three Blind Mice Trails. He said it was fortunate one of the riding group was an emergency room nurse who applied medical care.

Jorgensen said people get injured on the smoother trails as well as on the technical ones. He heard the injured rider on Sunday made a bad jump. The team managed to remove the rider from where he was and hand him over to BC Ambulance Service who took him to Penticton Regional Hospital. The rider's status is unknown.

When asked he said it would be nice to know the person's status but he and his team are happy doing their jobs. "We feel satisfied getting the person to BC Ambulance."

Two mountain bikers were reported to have died in the same area last year.
