Delivery driver who hit and killed 83-year-old woman found guilty

KELOWNA – A 72-year-old woman has been found guilty of driving without due care and attention after she ran over an 83-year-old woman, killing her in November 2014.

Sharon Marlene Scott was delivering newspapers in the early morning hours when she ran over Julie Gillespie, who was returning home after a night at the casino in downtown Kelowna, according to Global Okanagan.

Judge Ellen Burdett made her decision today, Jan. 8, after two days in provincial court during which Scott claimed she left the scene because she did not know she had hit a person.

Scott has no criminal record and will be sentenced next month.
