Shannon Lake Park continues to be off-limits
WEST KELOWNA – The threat from the Smith Creek wildfire in West Kelowna has forced the continued closure of Shannon Lake Regional Park.
The fire fighting activity makes the park too dangerous for visitors, according to a media release from the Regional District of the Central Okanagan. The heli-tankers are using water from the lake to dump on the forest fire.
There is good news though.
All the progress made in fighting the fire and the return of so many people to the evacuated areas over the weekend means Glen Canyon Regional Park and Rose Valley Regional Park have reopened.
No word from the Regional District on when Shannon Lake Regional Park with reopen.
