Penticton Regional Hospital played an important role in life of Penticton lawyer’s family

PENTICTON – The generosity continues in Penticton as the Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation receives another big contribution.

F. Anthony (Tony) Lloyd was a well known Penticton lawyer who passed away on April 19, 2015. His wife Judy Lloyd and family have donated $30,000 to the medical foundation in his memory, according to a media release.

Judy said the Penticton Regional Hospital became an important part of their lives during Tony’s last few years.

“In his last two years he spent an awful lot of time in the hospital,” she said. “Who hasn’t had interaction with the Penticton Hospital? You can’t live in the community without that.”

Judy has made friends with a number of hospital staffers as a result of the time she and Tony spent there.

Tony Lloyd was born in 1927 in Biggar Saskatchewan, enrolling in the Regina Teachers’ College at the age of 16. While holidaying in B.C. in 1948, he applied for and became principal of a small two room school in Salmon Arm.

He developed an interest in law which eventually saw him attend law school, graduate and find a position with Boyle & Co. in Penticton in 1955.

Tony spent the next 55 years with the firm, retiring in 2010. His health deteriorated in 2013 after suffering a stroke.

He was a long-time Rotary Club member and an active golfer, sailor, fisherman and skier.

Steve Arstad

I have been looking for news in the South Okanagan - SImilkameen for 20 years, having turned a part time lifelong interest into a full time profession. After five years publishing a local newsletter, several years working as a correspondent / stringer for several local newspapers and seven years as editor of a Similkameen weekly newspaper, I joined iNFOnews.ca in 2014. My goal in the news industry has always been to deliver accurate and interesting articles about local people and places. My interest in the profession is life long - from my earliest memories of grade school, I have enjoyed writing.
As an airborne geophysical surveyor I travelled extensively around the globe, conducting helicopter borne mineral surveys.
I also spent several years at an Okanagan Falls based lumber mill, producing glued-wood laminated products.
As a member of the Kaleden community, I have been involved in the Kaleden Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years, and also serve as a trustee on the Kaleden Irrigation District board.
I am currently married to my wife Judy, of 26 years. We are empty-nesters who enjoy living in Kaleden with our Welsh Terrier, Angus, and cat, Tibbs.
Our two daughters, Meagan and Hayley, reside in Richmond and Victoria, respectively.
