Thief bear sprays Kamloops mall security

KAMLOOPS – A mall security officer and a loss prevention officer were bear sprayed Sunday afternoon, sending one to hospital for treatment.

A 19-year-old male was seen leaving the grocery store at Northills Shopping Centre with items hidden in his jacket yesterday, Jan. 17. As they tried to stop him, he used the spray.

The officers were able to subdue him and held him until police arrived.

The suspect, known to police, will be making a court appearance this morning.
