Customer gets gun in face, no booze, during liquor store robbery

KELOWNA — Someone in Kelowna got more than they bargained for when visiting a local cold beer and wine store — a gun in their face.

Kelowna RCMP say they would like to speak to to the person who walked into the middle of an armed robbery at Jammer’s Liquor Store on Harvey Avenue on Sunday night, according to a media release.

Police say two men walked into the store just after 9 p.m., Jan. 17, pulled out a gun and stole cash and liquor before fleeing in a white pick-up truck.

While the robbery was in progress, an unidentified patron walked in — police don’t identify the gender — and the suspects pointed a gun at the patron on the way out.

Kelowna RCMP say they caught up to the two suspects just before 3 a.m. today when the truck was spotted driving in Rutland. Police closed in and arrested the two men without incident, recovering a gun from inside the vehicle.

A 29-year-old Kelowna man and a 27-year-old from Kamloops are in custody facing possible firearms and robbery charges.

Police would like the patron who walked into the store to call them at 250-762-3300.
