VERNON – Vernon taxpayers are getting a few bucks back from the city.
During budget discussions, Vernon council decided to return $232,734 from a Regional District Hospital levy back to taxpayers. The handout equates to about $8.57 for the average-priced home, based on 2015 assessment rates, according to a media release from the city.
The return is all thanks to a reduction in the hospital levy through a planned offset of the funds received from the Regional District for the dissolution of the Columbia Shuswap Regional Hospital District, the city says.
