The Latest: Man dead in Apple conference room was employee

CUPERTINO, Calif. – The Latest on an Apple employee found dead in a conference room at the company headquarters in Cupertino, California (all times local):

4:45 p.m.

Authorities say a man found dead in a conference room inside Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, California, was a company employee.

Sgt. Andrea Urena of the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office says the death of the male employee was an “isolated incident” and that nobody else on the campus or in the public is at risk.

She says sheriff’s deputies were called about 8:35 a.m. Wednesday for a report of “a person down” and found a man dead.

She says no suspects are being sought and that the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will determine how the man died.

Urena says she can’t confirm any information regarding “a manner or cause of death, or any weapons.”

Authorities responded to Apple’s main campus in California for a report of a body in a conference room.

KTVU reported (http://bit.ly/1SKHLtx ) that Santa Clara County sheriff’s deputies say they were called to the scene shortly before 9 a.m. Wednesday.

The gender, name, and age of the dead person were not available.

The sheriff’s office did not immediately return a call from The Associated Press. Apple representatives did not respond to emails for comment.
