Castillo’s early goals help FC Dallas hold off Toronto FC 3-2 after 3-hour weather delay

FRISCO, Texas – Fabian Castillo scored twice, including the fastest goal in his club’s history, and FC Dallas beat Toronto FC 3-2 in a game that ended early Sunday morning after a three-hour weather delay.

Officials stopped the game Saturday night at 8:20 p.m. local time due to lightning in the area and resumed at 11:43 p.m. with a few minutes left to play in the first half.

Castillo’s first goal came 29 seconds into the game when he beat the back-line defence to Moises Hernandez’s long ball and scored on a right-footed toe punch. He added his second in the 10th minute and Blas Perez made it 3-0 in the 27th for the FC Dallas (4-2-1).

Sebastian Giovinco rallied Toronto FC (1-4-0) back into contention with goals in the 83rd and 89th minutes, but Toronto lost its fourth in a row since winning its season opener.
