The pedestrian bridge over the crossing wasn't being used according to Dennis Maskell, a safety inspector with Transport Canada. Instead, pedestrians were darting across the track to try and beat oncoming trains, or crawling over them while parked Photographer: Dana Reynolds
Kamloops Blazers fans bridge bound as city shuts down rail crossing
KAMLOOPS – Pedestrians leaving Blazers games and other events at the Sandman Centre or Riverside Park are now required to take the pedestrian bridge over the railway instead of walking across on Third Avenue.
During last nights Blazers’ game pedestrians weren’t pleased with the forced bridge crossing. Some people took to social media to complain about the crowded bridge and pointed out the nearby option of crossing at Second Avenue.

The issue between the city and the railway company has been ongoing and in December flaggers were put in place to help control traffic at the intersection.
Council was brought up to date on the concern during the supplementary budget meeting on Tuesday, though city staff said they’re still reviewing a report received Jan. 15 and haven’t got more permanent recommendations.
