BOSTON – The Latest on the shooting of a 17-year-old Boston high school student (all times local):

Boston Police Commissioner William Evans is asking students at a city high school to drop the “no snitching” attitude and tell authorities what they know about the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old classmate.

In a Thursday appearance with Mayor Marty Walsh and school Superintendent Tommy Chang at Jeremiah Burke High School in the city’s Dorchester neighbourhood, Evans said some students know “exactly what happened” and should show some courage to help the victim’s mother get justice.

Evans said the shooting is still under investigation but may have been the result of a prior feud.

Three others were hurt in the shooting outside a pizza shop down the street from the school Wednesday afternoon.

Chang says grief counsellors have been brought in and his goal is to return to normalcy.

Police are searching for a suspect in a shooting near a Boston high school that left one student dead and three other people wounded.

It happened Wednesday afternoon near Jeremiah E. Burke High School in the city’s Dorchester neighbourhood just after a fire alarm went off inside the school.

Police say a 17-year-old student was shot dead and two other teens and a 67-year-old woman were wounded. The woman’s leg was grazed by a bullet.

Police Commissioner William Evans is calling on the community to help them identify whoever is responsible, saying “we all should be outraged.”
