KELOWNA – The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Tri-City Americans 4-2 on Friday night, Jan. 23, at Prospera Place, winning its third straight game to improve to 32-11-3-0 on the season.
Rourke Chartier had a goal and an assist and scored the game winning goal five minutes into the third period on an assist from Nick Merkley, who had two helpers in the game.
The Rockets fell behind 1-0 in the first and 2-1 in the second before answering back each time, scoring three straight goals to grab a 4-2 lead by midway in the third period.
Rodney Southam returned to the Rockets lineup and tied the game in the second period before Chartier and Tyson Baillie scored third period goals. Calvin Thurkauf also scored for the Rockets.
Michael Herringer earned the win in net, stopping 16 Tri-City shots in the third period en route to the win. Shots in the game were 32-32.
The Rockets are back in action on Saturday night at Prospera Place when they take on the Medicine Hat Tigers.
