SAN DIEGO – A koala at the San Diego Zoo has a baby girl.
Cambee gave birth in November, but the joey only recently emerged from mother’s pouch. The zoo released a video of Cambee walking on a branch with her offspring clinging to her back.
Zoo keeper Lacy Pearson says the joey’s personality has yet to emerge and that she will go everywhere with her mother for the next few months. The young koala has started to eat eucalyptus leaves and is doing well.
San Diego Zoo says it has the largest breeding colony of Queensland koalas and the most successful koala breeding program outside of Australia.
