Eddie Lack perfect in goal during the shootout as Wolves beat Heat 3-2

ABBOTSFORD, B.C. – Jordan Schroeder scored the winner in a shootout to lift the undefeated Chicago Wolves to a 3-2 win Friday over the Abbotsford Heat in American Hockey League action.

Zach Kassian scored in regulation for the Wolves (4-0-0), with Nathan Longpre also finding the back of the net.

Tyler Ruegsegger and Roman Horak scored for Abbotsford (2-0-1).

Schroeder beat Heat goalie Danny Taylor on the first attempt of the shootout and Eddie Lack stopped all three Abbotsford attempts for the Chicago victory.

Kassian and Darren Haydar also scored in the shootout for the Wolves.

Kassian opened the scoring at 9:45 of the second period when Andrew Ebbett chipped the puck past two defencemen right to Kassian on the left boards. He broke hard to the net and beat Taylor with a high wristshot for his second goal of the season.

Ruegsegger tied it for the Heat with a power-play goal at 2:06 of the third period.

Longpre put Chicago back in front at 3:55 of the third, and Horak scored the equalizer for Abbotsford on the power-play at 5:02.

Lack stopped 27 shots for the Wolves, including two breakaway saves in the third period to keep the game knotted, stopping Sven Baertschi and then Horak with less than two minutes to go.

Taylor made 29 saves for the Heat.

Chicago went 0-for-4 with the power play, while Abbotsford was 2-for-4 with the man advantage.
