Poland: Torrential rains and strong winds kill 3, injure 4

WARSAW, Poland – Officials say three people have been killed and four injured in Poland by torrential rains and heavy winds that turned many streets into streams.

Rescue services spokesman Pawel Frontczak told The Associated Press on Friday that one person was killed and two were injured when a falling tree crushed a car near the central city of Lodz.

A crane operator was killed when a wall under construction fell on the crane near Warsaw and a third person died in the north after being hit by a farm building’s crumbling wall.

Two persons were also injured when their car hit a fallen tree near the central town of Inowroclaw.

Streets in Poznan, in the west, and in other places turned into streams and fallen trees blocked roads across the country.
