Vietnam recovers 4 bodies from missing search plane

HANOI, Vietnam – Vietnamese state media say four bodies believed to be crew members of a search plane that crashed last week while looking for a missing fighter jet have been recovered.

The online VnExpress reported Friday that the bodies were found over the past two days about 15 nautical miles (28 kilometres) from Bach Long Vi island in the Gulf of Tonkin.

The Ministry of Defence said on its website Friday that authorities have recovered some wreckage of the maritime patrol aircraft, including the engine and tail.

The Airbus-manufactured Casa-212 aircraft with nine military personnel on board crashed last week while searching for a fighter jet which went down two days earlier on a training flight.
