Melt to continue in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS – With temperatures set to be above seasonal normals this week we can expect to see the snow continue to melt in Kamloops.

Environment Canada is calling for highs ranging from 1 Celsius today, Jan. 25, to 5 C later in the week while overnight lows are expected to hover near 0 C. Seasonal normal temperatures range from a high of 0 C to a low of -7 C.

Along with the mild temperatures comes a week of cloudy skies and a risk of flurries or freezing rain tonight and tomorrow.

Avalanche risk has lowered throughout the region following a warning this weekend. Avalanche Canada currently rates the avalanche risk as moderate to considerable throughout the region, with a high risk at the alpine level in the Kootenay-Boundary range.

Slippery or slushy sections, along with fog patches, are being reported on many Interior highways this morning and Drive B.C. also notes some areas of broken pavement or other debris on the Coquihalla Highway from the Portia Interchange to Kingsvale.
