Romania: PM reshuffles 4 ministers to make govt efficient
BUCHAREST, Romania – Romania’s prime minister says he’s changing four ministers in a bid to make his government of technocrats more efficient.
Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos said Tuesday that he wanted “another rhythm” and announced new ministers for education, communication, transportation and for handling Romanians living abroad.
Ciolos, a former European Union Commissioner, nominated a manager at Renault cars, Sorin Buse, as transportation minister. He tasked him with speeding up the construction of unfinished highways and other transportation projects.
He proposed Mircea Dumitru, Bucharest University rector, as education minister, to focus on reforming school-level education and research in education. Ciolos says education reforms must come quicker.
President Klaus Iohannis needs to approve the ministers. Romania holds a parliamentary election in the fall.
