Castile’s family vows lawsuit over Minnesota police shooting
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The family of a black Minnesota man fatally shot by a police officer during a traffic stop is planning to sue over his killing.
TV judge Glenda Hatchett is the attorney representing the family of Philando Castile. She said Tuesday that there will be a lawsuit over the 32-year-old’s death last week in the St. Paul suburb of Falcon Heights.
Hatchett did not say whom the family intends to name as defendants or otherwise elaborate on the suit.
An officer from the neighbouring St. Anthony police force shot Castile during a traffic stop that remains under investigation.
Castile’s girlfriend streamed the immediate aftermath of the shooting live on Facebook in a video that prompted protests around the country, including in Dallas, where five officers were killed Thursday.
