CHISINAU, Moldova – Moldova’s president has declared a day of mourning for the death of Anne of Romania, the wife of deposed King Michael.

Michael was king from 1927 to 1930 when Moldova was part of Romania. He also reigned from 1940 to 1947 before being forced to abdicate by the communists. He married Anne the following year.

Flags will be flown at half-staff, media is expected to respect the solemnity of the day and there will be no large public events.

Anne will be buried in Curtea de Arges cemetery in central Romania on Aug. 13 in the largest royal funeral since Queen Marie died in 1938.
