Report: Loose bolt caused 2015 Orlando helicopter crash
ORLANDO, Fla. – Investigators say a loose bolt was responsible for a helicopter crash that killed all three people on board last year in central Florida.
Citing a Tuesday announcement from the National Transportation Safety Board, the Orlando Sentinel (http://bit.ly/2bBHrOP) reports that the bolt allowed a crucial piece of hardware to detach, causing the pilot, 48-year-old Bruce Teitelbaum, to lose control of the chopper and crash into trees, power lines and an unoccupied guest house in the Florida city on March 22, 2015.
Teitelbaum, his 55-year-old wife Marsha Khan, and their 43-year-old friend Harry Anderson died in the fiery crash.
Teitelbaum was executive director of a Volusia County-based paper shredding and recycling company.
The helicopter took off from the nearby Orlando Executive Airport and flew about 2 miles before it crashed.
