Woman admits to role in kidnapping of 2 college students
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A New York woman has admitted to her role in the kidnapping and torture of two college students.
As part of an agreement with prosecutors, Leah Gigliotti pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count of second-degree kidnapping and was sentenced to 13 years behind bars.
Gigliotti is one of nine people charged in the December abduction of two University of Rochester students.
She was indicted in January on kidnapping, assault and gang assault charges.
In court on Tuesday, Gigliotti admitted to driving to meet the two victims, both male college seniors, with the promise of taking them to an off-campus party. Instead, they were driven to a house where they were held for 40 hours and assaulted.
