Puerto Rican accused of setting blankets on fire mid-flight

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – The FBI has arrested a woman accused of setting two blankets and a control panel on fire during a JetBlue flight to Puerto Rico.

The agency said Wednesday that Idializ Gomez used a lighter to burn the items. She was charged after landing in the southern coastal town of Ponce aboard a flight that originated in New York City.

It was not immediately clear if Gomez had an attorney. The FBI said the incident occurred on Tuesday before dawn.

U.S. federal regulations allow passengers to carry one lighter in their carry-on baggage.
