Tips to spot the ‘Orphan Black’ double in her scenes

TORONTO – As the double for “Orphan Black”‘s Tatiana Maslany, Kathryn Alexandre acts opposite the show’s star whenever a scene involves more than one clone. Viewers don’t see Alexandre’s face, but sometimes parts of her remain in a scene.

Here are Alexandre’s tips for spotting her:

— “Any time there’s an over-the-shoulder shot where you see Tatiana’s face, Sarah talking to Alison (for instance), then I’m Alison from the back. So I’m wearing the wig and the costume and I’m doing all of Alison’s movements.”

— “Sometimes in the really complicated technodolly shots they use some of my body parts, because clones are touching each other.”

— “Because Tatiana is so busy they can’t use her for everything that they need to use her for, so sometimes they will use me instead of her for another character’s coverage. For instance, if they have to get … just the body of one of the clones to shoot over the shoulder, that will actually be me and not Tatiana.”

— “Hands are an easy one to figure out, because mine are quite a bit smaller than Tatiana’s, so any time we put our hands together … mine is the childlike-looking hand.”
