Alberta Liberals say they would double funding to arts if elected May 5

RED DEER, Alta. – Alberta’s Liberals are promising to double funding to the province’s arts foundation if they win next Tuesday’s election.

Leader David Swann said during a campaign stop in Red Deer the extra cash would bring money for the arts to $53 million.

Swann also said his party would create a $5-million First Nations arts fund.

He said the arts are essential to Alberta’s economy, because every dollar invested generates an estimated $12 of economic return.

Swan said the other parties have neglected the creative community.
