The Latest: Stevie Wonder tops Prince tribute show lineup

MINNEAPOLIS – The Latest on plans for a family sanctioned tribute concert for the late rock superstar Prince (all times local):

4:30 p.m.

Stevie Wonder and members of Prince’s inner circle will highlight a family-sanctioned Prince tribute concert in St. Paul on Oct. 13.

Prince’s family originally planned to hold the show at the new NFL stadium in his hometown of Minneapolis. However, organizers announced Thursday that it will be at the smaller Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. CDT Monday via Ticketmaster.

The lineup also includes Christina Aguilera, Chaka Khan, John Mayer, Tori Kelly, Anita Baker, Doug E. Fresh, Luke James, Bilal and Mint Condition.

Prince’s inner circle will be represented by Morris Day & The Time, Judith Hill and Liv Warfield. The New Power Generation led by Morris Hayes, along with members of 3RDEYEGIRL, also will perform.

Organizers of a family-sanctioned Prince tribute concert in his hometown of Minneapolis have yet to announce a lineup of musicians or ticket sale plans for the Oct. 13 show at the city’s new NFL stadium.

The delay has frustrated fans who’ve already booked flights and rooms, but they say they feel better now that a New York public relations agency has come aboard to help manage the event.

Lois Najarian O’Neill, a partner in the PR agency The Door, told The Associated Press on Thursday she hoped all questions would be answered in 24 hours.

The authority that runs U.S. Bank Stadium said earlier this week that no contract had been signed. Stadium spokeswoman Jennifer Hathaway declined to say Thursday whether anything has changed.
