UPDATE: Severe thunderstorm warnings end

UPDATE: A severe thunderstorm warning reissued for the Okanagan Valley has now ended.

Twice today, Environment Canada has warned the storms could produce strong wind gusts, dime to nickel sized hail and heavy rain.

All weather warnings have now ended for the South Thompson, Nicola, Shuswap and North Thompson regions that were under warnings earlier today.

THOMPSON-OKANAGAN – A severe weather system has moved into the area very quickly and with it a severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for the South Thompson region, including Kamloops.

Environment Canada upgraded a special weather statement to a severe thunderstorm watch this afternoon and within about 10 minutes later upgraded it to a full warning for the South Thompson while the North Thompson, Shuswap, Nicola and Okanagan regions remain under a watch.

A line of severe thunderstorms are heading northeast at 50 kilometres per hour and Environment Canada says radar shows a good chance of large hail and heavy downpours.
