7 killed in Mexican border state in drug gang clashes

MEXICO CITY – Authorities in the Mexican border state of Tamaulipas say seven men were shot to death in the state capital as part of disputes between criminal gangs seeking to control the city.

The state government says the men were killed in three separate incidents Wednesday in Ciudad Victoria. Factions of at least three drug gangs are fighting turf battles in the city.

The first shooting occurred at a home where four men were shot in the head by attackers who first questioned the victims about a member of a rival gang.

The second shooting occurred at a taco stand. One man died at the stand and another nearby.

The final attack involved a man who was shot five times at a house. Another man was wounded.
