
Evacuation order lifted for Botanie Creek
LYTTON – An evacuation order for Botanie Creek Road north of Lytton has been lifted by the Thompson Nicola Regional District.
The nearly 150 residents were staying in and around Lytton to evade a wildfire near the area.
While an evacuation order has been rescinded, an evacuation alert remains in effect. Residents can return home, but should prepare in case circumstances change again. Power was restored on Tuesday evening.
The wildfire remains mapped at 1,389 hectares and is 25 per cent contained.
The areas still under an Evacuation Alert cover all properties from Botanie Creek Road and the junction of Highway 12 north up to Botanie Lake, as well as all properties east of the Fraser River, along the Highway 12 corridor from Highway 12 and Botanie Creek Road to Highway 12 and Laluwissin Forest Service Road east to the western boundary of the Bootahnie IR #15.
Fire crews are continuing to use Botanie Creek Road to access the wildfire. Traffic on the road is restricted to property residents only. The public is urged to stay away from the area to ensure crew member safety.
