The Latest: Kim Kardashian friends come to console TV star

PARIS – The Latest on robbery of Kim Kardashian West in Paris (all times local):

8:00 p.m.

Friends of Kim Kardashian West have arrived to console the reality TV star in New York City following her ordeal in Paris.

LaLa Anthony, wife of basketball player Carmelo Anthony arrived Monday afternoon, as did family friends Jonathan Cheban and Simon Huck, who are often featured on “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.”

They all arrived separately and did not speak to the media. Video cameras lined barricades outside the building, capturing security guards milling about.

6:45 p.m.

Kris Jenner indicated her daughter was doing OK, giving a “thumbs up” signal when a reporter asked how Kim Kardashian West was faring after being held up by gunpoint.

Jenner was seen leaving the New York City apartment where Kardashian West retreated to on Monday, hours after she was the victim of a robbery at gunpoint in Paris.

Jenner, wearing a long black fur coat, did not speak when she left the building. She exited in a black sports utility vehicle.

Kim Kardashian West has arrived in New York City hours after the robbery in Paris. She flew into nearby Teteboro Airport, in Teterboro, New Jersey, in a private jet and went at apartment building in downtown Manhattan with a motorcade. There was a heavy security presence, including police, as some media stood outside.

3:30 p.m.

Paris’ mayor, Anne Hidalgo, has urged politicians across the spectrum not to exploit the jewel theft from Kim Kardashian West for political gains in the lead-up to next year’s presidential election.

Hidalgo says: “In a complicated context for tourism, in which boosting attendance must be the priority of all, using this incident for polemical purposes would amount to directly harming the tourism sector, which represents 500,000 jobs” in the Paris region.

12:45 p.m.

Anne Hidalgo, the mayor of Paris, has condemned the assault on Kim Kardashian West and expressed her support to the reality TV star, saying she will “always be welcome in Paris.”

Hidalgo added in a statement that she is fully confident that police forces will quickly identify and arrest those suspected of robbing the U.S. star of more than $10 million in jewelry.

Hidalgo insisted in her statement that the robbery “in no way calls into question police work or security of public space” in Paris.

12:20 p.m.

Kim Kardashian West has left Paris after being robbed at gunpoint of more than $10 million worth of jewelry inside a private residence early Monday.

Ina Treciokas, a spokeswoman for Kardashian West, said the reality TV star was “badly shaken but physically unharmed” after two armed robbers tied her up and escaped with the jewelry.

Paris police say Kardashian West left the city Monday morning after being questioned. There was no word on where she was going.

Kim Kardashian West was unharmed after being robbed at gunpoint of more than $10 million worth of jewelry inside a private Paris residence Sunday night, police officials said.

A spokeswoman for Kardashian West said the reality TV star, who was in Paris attending fashion week shows, was “badly shaken but physically unharmed” after masked men dressed as police officers also tied her up in the flat’s bathroom before fleeing the scene.

A Paris police official said five assailants, who were still at large, stole a jewelry box containing valuables worth 6 million euros ($6.7 million) as well as a ring worth 4 million euros. In a message to The Associated Press, the Paris prosecutors’ office said that only two of the five suspects forced their way into the apartment, located in the chic eighth district of the French capital.
