Most actively traded companies on the TSX, TSX Venture Exchange markets

TORONTO – Some of the most active companies traded Tuesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (12,225.84 down 177.71 points):

Viterra Inc. (TSX:VT). Grain handler. Down 13 cents, or 0.82 per cent, at $15.70 on 6,328,558 shares. The consumer staples subgroup was down 0.74 per cent at 229.12 points.

Celtic Exploration Ltd. (TSX:CLT). Oil and gas. Up a penny, or 0.04 per cent, at $25.84 on 4,698,834 shares. U.S. energy giant ExxonMobil announced last week it is buying Calgary-based Celtic for $3.1 billion.

Progress Energy Resources Corp. (TSX:PRQ). Oil and gas. Down 66 cents, or 3.36 per cent, at $18.98 on 4,484,694 shares. The stock slid for a third day in a row since Ottawa blocked a proposed $6-billion takeover by Malaysian state-owned oil company Petronas. Both companies said Monday that they’re trying to salvage the deal.

Suncor Energy Inc. (TSX:SU). Oil and gas. Down 72 cents, or 2.16 per cent, at $32.66 on 3,955,074 shares. The Calgary-based company provided an update at its Firebag oilsands facility in Alberta Monday. Suncor said that its Stage 4 production reached 120,000 barrels per day and is 10 per cent under budget.

Royal Bank of Canada (TSX:RY). Down $1.66, or 2.83 per cent, at $56.94 on 3,778,462 shares. Canada`s largest bank will buy the Canadian auto finance and deposit business of Ally Financial Inc. RBC will pay between $3.1 billion and $3.8 billion, including excess capital.

Teck Resources Ltd. (TSX:TCK.B). Miner. Down 79 cents, or 2.52 per cent, at $30.54 on 3,553,886 shares. The metals and mining sector dropped 2.26 per cent at 920.06 points.

TSX Venture Exchange (1,289.50 down 18.90 points):

Zodiac Exploration Inc. (TSXV:ZEX). Oil exploration. Up 1.5 cents, or 21.43 per cent, at 8.5 cents on 8,288,169 shares.

Arcus Development Group Inc. (TSXV:ADG). Mineral exploration. Down 3.5 cents, or 43.75 per cent, at 4.5 cents on 5,241,000 shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Cargojet Airways (TSX:CJT). Air cargo services. Down 10 cents, or 1.30 per cent, at $7.60 on 3,400 shares. The Toronto-area company’s 65 pilots have been certified as members of the Canadian Auto Workers union by the Canadian Industrial Relations Board.

Danier Leather Inc. (TSX:DL). Retailer. The leather apparel and accesories maker posted a third-quarter loss of $3.5 million or 74 cents per share versus a a loss of $2.8 million or 59 cents per share in the same period last year. Sales revenue totalled $23.1 million, up five per cent.

TD Bank Group (TSX:TD). Bank. Down 83 cents, or one per cent, at $82.09 on 1,610,858 shares. The bank acquires the U.S. credit card portfolio of Target Corp. for an undisclosed amount. The transaction still requires regulatory approval and other closing conditions.
