Rest or rust? Tigers get plenty of time to prepare for World Series, Giants roll right in

SAN FRANCISCO – Fresh from a Game 7 win and another stirring comeback, the San Francisco Giants are rolling right into this World Series.

The Detroit Tigers took a different route. Coming off a playoff sweep of the Yankees, they’ve been working out at home, waiting nearly a week for an opponent.

Which poses the old post-season question: Is this rest or rust?

The opener is Wednesday night, with Tigers ace Justin Verlander set to face Barry Zito.
