St-Pierre mum on details of return to octagon, says answer could come soon

MONTREAL – Georges St-Pierre just smiled when asked Wednesday about taunts from UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping.

“I like that, it’s good to feel the love,” the 35-year-old former three-time champion said.

Bisping, who makes the first defence of his title against Dan Henderson on Saturday in England, said recently he would welcome a bout with St-Pierre if the St. Isidore, Que., native was man enough to come out of retirement.

St-Pierre said he wants to return to the octagon after a three-year hiatus. There have been reports he will fight in Toronto on Dec. 10 if he can he negotiate a deal with UFC’s new owners.

But he had few details to offer.

“Unfortunately, I know it’s a boring answer, but I can’t talk about it right now,” he said. “There are some little things happening, so I can’t talk because I can be in trouble.

“We’ll see what happens but I promise you, we might have some news soon.”

Asked about the Toronto date, he said “I can’t say when because I really don’t know. They keep pushing back. But there is a dealine and we’ll see what’s going to happen after that.”
