Truck ‘explodes’ through home, killing Florida woman

LAKELAND, Fla. – Authorities say a driver who lost control of his pickup truck plowed through a bedroom and dining room of a central Florida house, killing a 76-year-old woman.

News media outlets quote Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd as saying that the truck “exploded” into the home at about 40 mph Thursday morning, eventually coming to a stop in the kitchen.

He says 24-year-old driver Ryan Tallent of Plant City faces a DUI manslaughter charge and is being booked into the Polk County Jail. It isn’t clear whether he has a lawyer.

Judd identified the woman who died as Janice Folds. He says Folds and her husband, the Rev. Wyatt Folds, were married for 55 years.
