3rd Ohio resident pleads guilty in bomb plot on prison guard
UTICA, N.Y. – The last of three Ohio residents charged with injuring a New York prison guard with a homemade bomb has pleaded guilty.
The Observer-Dispatch of Utica reports (http://bit.ly/2ePbw0z ) 57-year-old Cindy Shields, of Conneaut (KAW’-nee-awt), pleaded guilty to assault charges Friday in Oneida County Court in exchange for a 12-year prison sentence.
Her co-defendants — her sister Donna Seppi and brother-in-law Keith Seppi — pleaded guilty last week for their involvement in the May explosion that left Corrections Officer Alan Dobransky with serious burns.
Authorities say Keith Seppi made the package bomb that exploded when Dobransky picked it up at his home near Utica. Officials say the attack was intended to stop Dobransky from reporting an elder care scam against his mother and wasn’t related to his job at a nearby prison.
