Emergency crews use tractor to rescue a horse in roadside distress
ABBOTSFORD, B.C. – It wasn’t a typical roadside distress call, as emergency workers turned out en masse over the weekend to rescue a horse that had fallen into a ditch in Abbotsford.
Two people were out for a Saturday afternoon ride on a rural road when one of their horses spooked and backed into a ditch.
Carol Champion, one of the riders, said the animal quickly became stuck in mud and was unable to escape.
Dozens of firefighters and police officers showed up and were eventually able to free the animal using a hose line and a tractor from a nearby farm.
Champion said the horse was up and walking seconds after being freed.
She said she doesn’t think the animal suffered any injuries. (CTV News)
