Russians rally at British Embassy, mimicking London protest

MOSCOW – Several dozen demonstrators have rallied outside the British Embassy in Moscow in a tit-for-tat response to a protest in London against Russia’s action in Syria.

About two dozen protesters gathered outside the Russian Embassy in London on Thursday and threw hundreds of mannequin limbs in front of the building to protest Russia’s airstrikes in support of the Syrian government’s siege of the city of Aleppo. Russia’s Foreign Ministry angrily criticized British authorities for allowing the rally.

On Friday, several dozen people mimicked the British protest by throwing mannequin limbs at the British Embassy in Moscow. Russian state television extensively covered the protest.

Syrian President Bashar Assad’s forces are waging an offensive on the rebel-controlled eastern part of Aleppo under the cover of Russian warplanes.
