President-elect Donald Trump’s victory has prompted Oscar-winning screenwriter Aaron Sorkin to pen an open letter to his daughter and his ex-wife in which he slams the Republican and vows “the battle isn’t over.”
In the letter published online Wednesday by Vanity Fair, Sorkin says “hate was given hope” by Trump’s win. He calls Trump’s supporters white nationalists, sexists, racists and buffoons.
Sorkin did add a measure of hope, telling his family, “America didn’t stop being America last night and we didn’t stop being Americans and here’s the thing about Americans: Our darkest days have always_always_been followed by our finest hours.”
The creator of “The West Wing” is an outspoken liberal and has sometimes used his projects to share political viewpoints.
