KAMLOOPS – When police tried to stop a suspect this morning wanted in connection with a domestic assault, he floored it and took off.
RCMP say just before 9 a.m., Feb. 4, officers attempted to pull over a vehicle at the Lansdowne Village shopping centre in downtown Kamloops, only to have the driver take off at a “high rate of speed.”
In the interest of public safety, police didn’t chase the suspect vehicle, according to a media release.
About 15 minutes later, a RCMP found and arrested the suspect at the Northills Shopping Centre.
A 24-year-old man is in custody, but police aren’t saying what charges he faces as the investigation continues.
