Jays hitting coach Brook Jacoby suspended 14 games after incident with umpires

TORONTO – Toronto Blue Jays hitting coach Brook Jacoby was suspended 14 games by Major League Baseball on Monday.

He earned the unpaid ban for his post-game conduct toward the umpire crew after Toronto’s 4-1 loss to the Red Sox in Boston on April 29.

The Blue Jays will appeal the suspension. A spokesman said the club will not comment on the situation until the appeal is heard.

Jacoby will begin serving the suspension with Monday’s game in Toronto against the New York Yankees.
