Motorcyclist killed in head-on crash near Chase

CHASE – A motorcyclist died instantly after hitting a semi head-on east of Chase on the Trans Canada Highway.

RCMP say the collision happened at about 9:28 a.m., Feb. 6, one kilometre east of Chase on Highway 1.

An eastbound motorcycle crossed the double solid yellow lines and hit a westbound semi tractor-trailer unit head-on, according to a RCMP media release.

Police say the motorcyclist died instantly. The person’s identity has not been released.

The truck driver wasn’t seriously hurt.

The highway was closed for six hours while the collision was investigated.

No word on the cause of the crash.
