Man shot when police called to stabbing of woman in Surrey, B.C.: investigators

SURREY, B.C. – British Columbia’s police watchdog says an RCMP officer in Surrey shot a man who had been holding a knife.

The Independent Investigations Office says in a news release that police were called early Thursday morning to reports that a female had been stabbed.

It says police report that when officers arrived, they had an interaction with a man who was holding a knife and he was shot.

The injured man is in stable condition and the female is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The office is in charge of investigating all deaths or serious injuries involving police.

The office says Surrey’s major crime section is responsible for the investigation into the stabbing.
