‘Furious 7’ gets top trailer awards prize; ‘American Sniper,’ ‘Hunger Games’ tie for most wins

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. – An emotional spot for “Furious 7” focusing on family and set to Wiz Khalifa’s song “See You Again” has been named the best trailer of the year at the 16th annual Golden Trailer Awards, Wednesday.

“American Sniper” and “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay-Part 1” tied for most wins with five awards each.

The awards, hosted by comedian T.J. Miller, were presented at a ceremony at the Saban Theater and recognize the studios and creative teams behind trailers. In recent years, trailers have become both a unique art form and veritable events unto themselves.

Case in point: The recent Star Wars Celebration event kicked off its weekend of activities with the world premiere of a new teaser for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”
