League-leading B.C. Lions release import wide receiver Kierrie Johnson

VANCOUVER – The B.C. Lions released import wide receiver Kierrie Johnson on Thursday.

Johnson was expected to play a key role this year after a solid rookie season but went on the nine-game injured list after breaking his arm during a game against Saskatchewan in July.

The Lions are deep at the position and star receiver Geroy Simon is set to return to the lineup Friday in Calgary after missing three games with a hamstring injury.

Johnson, a 24-year-old Houston native, played three years at the University of Houston and one season at Blinn Junior College in Texas.
