A public tip helped get a drunk driver and his 12-year-old passenger off the road Sunday morning.
RCMP received a call from a concerned citizen that a brown Chevy was swerving all over the road in Vernon on Highway 97 near Baily Road. The 46-year-old driver was stopped by Traffic Services and found to be impaired. He received a 90 day immediate roadside prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
"The police would like to thank the public for alerting them about this vehicle and driver," RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk stated in a press release. "He (the driver) told police he was driving to Kelowna. This could have ended far worse for everyone."
