Shooting victims in Celista were known to each other: RCMP

CELISTA – Police remain tight-lipped on details surrounding last weekend’s shooting in Celista, but have confirmed the attack was not random.

Three men sustained injuries caused by gunshots last Sunday, Feb. 7. All three were treated in hospital, with two of them sustaining serious injuries.

“We can confirm that this incident was not a random occurrence and that the individuals involved were known to each other,” RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Dan Moskaluk says in a release. “We are always concerned for the safety of the general public when incidents such as this occur in our communities, however as is in many cases such as this one, we can state that the violence seen was not a random act (directed) at random people."

The incident remains under investigation by the major crimes unit.
