Police investigating after pedestrian struck in downtown Vernon

VERNON – A full scale investigation is underway on a downtown Vernon street after a pedestrian was struck by a car and sent to hospital this afternoon.

Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy says police received multiple calls about an incident in the 3500-block of 27 Avenue around 12:45 p.m., today, Feb. 10.

“Police attended and found a vehicle had gone off the road at that location and struck a pedestrian,” Noseworthy says.

Two people, the pedestrian and an occupant of the vehicle, were taken to hospital. The extent of their injuries is not known. 

Police officers have the area blocked off with police tape and a traffic reconstructionist is at the scene. There have been no arrests, Noseworthy says.

Noseworthy advises the section of road could be closed into Wednesday evening.
