Quebec cops arrest nine in connection with drug trafficking and double murder
GATINEAU, Que. – Quebec provincial police say an investigation into a suspected drug ring has led to the arrest of a man they allege ordered the murder of a young couple in 2014.
Police said today they have arrested nine people they believe were part of an alleged drug-trafficking ring in the Gatineau area in western Quebec.
One of those arrested is Ronald Brazeau, 34, who is described by police as the alleged head of the drug ring and the person who ordered the killing of Travis Votour, 23, and Amanda Trottier, 23.
Authorities previously arrested Sonia Vilon, 39, and Rene Samson-VonRichter, 24, and charged them with first-degree murder in the killing of the couple.
Police said they believe the murders were a revenge killing because the two victims were stealing drugs from members of the drug ring.
The other six people in custody will be charged with drug trafficking.
